Healthy Homemade Halloween Sweets

 

Well, it’s another round of Halloween season, and your taste buds would be ready to relish the guilt-free sugary delights. However, sweets are not always an answer to your sweet tooth, especially if you have diabetes or want to control your sugar levels. So, as a respite for you, here are the top treats to prepare at home. Though they do not mean zero sugar/ salt, they do mean a lot less sugar/salt with no chemical additives and a lot of love!

Raspberry Gummies

Ingredients: 

  • Raspberries 1 cup
  • Water 1 cup
  • Honey 3 tbsp
  • Gelatin powder/ agar-agar 0.5 cup

Steps: 

  1. Blend the first two ingredients until you obtain a consistent puree. If you are not an avid fan of raspberries, swap it up with a berry of your choice. But you’ll have to bear the color in mind, as the berries are responsible for the color.
  2. To the puree, add the remaining ingredients and whisk until thick.
  3. Heat the mixture in low heat for 10 minutes.
  4. Pour the mixture into molds and refrigerate till they set.
  5. Demold and enjoy!

Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients

  • Chocolates (baking ones or go for drinking chocolates) 1 bar/ as desired
  • Butter 100 grams
  • Sugar 1 cup
  • Cream 1 cup
  • Eggs 3
  • Mint leaves garnishing

Steps:

  1. Beat the egg white and sugar until they give a soft foamy paste.
  2. Add the cream and whisk to ensure proper mixing. 
  3. Add egg yolk to the mixture and continue whisking.
  4. Add liquid chocolate and whisk, followed by egg whites. 
  5. The batter should be of even consistency, more or less like a foam. 
  6. Scoop the mousse cake into Halloween-themed containers and garnish it with mint leaves or two! Add a bit of quirk by putting the mousse into a scooped-out mandarin skin. Decorate the mandarin skin similar to Jack O’ lanterns. 

Spiders Treat!

Ingredients:

  • Strawberries
  • Dark chocolate 

Steps:

  1. Melt the dark chocolate to get the liquid form of the same. You can melt the chocolate by keeping it over boiling water to melt quickly without adding moisture. 
  2. Dip a clean berry into the melted chocolate.
  3. Scratch out space for the eye.
  4. Place them on parchment paper and stick chocolate legs on them.
  5. Refrigerate till the chocolate is dry.  

Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake

Ingredients: 

  • Dates 1 cup
  • Almonds 1 cup
  • Cooking oil 4 tsp
  • Vanilla/ vanilla essence 2 tsp
  • Cinnamon 2 tsp
  • Cashew 2 cup
  • Maple syrup 0.5 cup
  • Ginger 0.25 tsp; ground
  • Allspice 0.25 tsp
  • Cloves 0.25 tsp
  • Pumpkin 1 cup

Steps: 

  1. Process the dates, almonds, vanilla, and cinnamon with the cooking oil. Once they break down to become powder, press the mixture against the container to form a uniform layer of equal thickness. Refrigerate to set.
  2. Process the cashews with maple syrup and the rest of the spices into a powdered mixture. Use half of this mixture to set the second layer. 
  3. Cut the pumpkins into small pieces and boil until soft. Then blend them to obtain a smooth puree. Next, add the remaining second layer mixture to the puree and again blend. Finally, add the layer to the top of the other layers. 
  4. Refrigerate till the layers are set. Then, slice them into Halloween-themed goodies!
